“Love, Loss And What I Wore,” by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the book by Ilene
Beckerman, will be performed as a staged reading on Sunday, February 17 at 3:00PM at the Eastport
Arts Center, 36 Washington Street, Eastport.
A woman’s wardrobe often serves as the way she remembers her life—and every woman will appreciate
the sweet and often saucy way the women of “Love, Loss And What I Wore” use clothing to tell the
stories of their lives. Charming and poignant, this drama/comedy delivers a lot of laughs and a few tears.
Co-author Nora Ephron received three Academy Award nominations for her screenplays Silkwood,
When Harry Met Sally… and Sleepless in Seattle. With her sister, writer-producer Delia, Nora co-wrote
the screenplays for You’ve Got Mail, Hanging Up and Bewitched. Nora Ephron wrote the introduction
to Ilene Beckerman’s book and was drawn to its dramatic possibilities. Nora then asked her friends
for stories about how their clothes were woven into their lives. The result, a series of monologues
interspersed with choral pieces with all of the actors joining in, is a moving and often hilarious journey
through the lives of women, told through the clothing and accessories that trigger important memories.
The reading will bring several newcomers to the arts center stage, Mary Jane Summers, Jenie Smith,
Penny Guisinger and Abby Leavitt, who will be joined by veteran actors Patricia Caya and Elaine Jackson.
“Love, Loss And What I Wore” is presented by Stage East as part of the Eastport Arts Center’s Sunday
Afternoon at the EAC program series. For more information, contact the arts center at 853-4650 or
