JEFFERSON, Maine — Naturalist Lynne Flaccus, program director at Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association, will lead a walk under the stars and full moon in search of owls 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Hidden Valley Nature Center. , a naturalist and Program Director at Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association, is skilled in calling in owls.
Flaccus will be seeking the great horned owl, barred owl, and the northern saw-whet owl.
Meet promptly at the gate, and wear appropriate footwear, such as Bean boots, hiking boots, or snowshoes. Dress warmly. Include a headlamp or flashlight in case the moon is not fully visible. Bring a favorite drink for an after-hike gathering at the Welcoming Center.
Each Thursday during January, from 10 – noon, HVNC
The nature center also offers guided hikes 10 a.m.-noon Thursdays during January. Snowshoes will be available to rent by reservation.
Suggested donation for the owl prowl and the guided hikes is $5. advance registration is requested.
