The sun is shining, and it is time to get out there and plant! (Before those weeds grow any bigger!) Get something new for the garden this year while visitin Belfast Garden Club’s popular Annual Green Thumb Plant Sale, Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 9-11am at The Belfast Boathouse, 34 Commercial Street, Belfast.

This popular sale always draws a big crowd, so plan to arrive early! Green Thumb Plant Sale organizer, Karen Meisenheimer reports, “Due to an increase in the number of private donations (to numerous to list), the plant sale will have a record number and variety of plants available.” The sale will feature annuals, perennials, veggies, herbs, vines and gardening-related white elephant items. In addition to the private donations, local nurseries and plant businesses have generously donated plants for this sale, the proceeds from which benefit Belfast Garden Club activities in the community and our scholarship fund for higher education. These donating businesses include; Barley Joe’s, Warren; Bahner Farm, Belmont; Carol’s Collectibles, Swanville; EBS, Belfast; Evergreen Valley Farm, Searsmont; Fernwood Nursery, Montville; Hidden Gardens, Searsport; Holmes Greenhouse, Belfast; Hosta Gallery, Belmont; Ledgewood Gardens, Orrington; Plants Unlimited, Rockport; Roots & Shoots, Montville.

The Club has been in operation since 1929 and welcomes new members year round. The Garden Club can always use volunteers to help maintain the beautiful City Gardens, you need not be a member or a pro to help.
