In the midst of autumn color and cooling temperatures, Rape Response Services announces its Annual Auction. The event provides an evening of fun, laughter, conversation, delicious hors d’oeuvres, lively music, and spirited bidding wars. Among the many items to be auctioned are a handcrafted queen sized quilt, quilted by the Zonta Club of Bangor, two $50 gift certificates for the Furniture Gallery, two pairs of tickets to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, homemade cookies delivered to your door each month for a year, a gift certificate for a North Country Rivers white water rafting adventure for two, two tickets to the Penobscot Theatre Company’s production of “Becky’s New Car”, three $50 gift cards for Miller Drug. For a full list of items visit the Rape Response Services website at

All proceeds will go to Rape Response Services to support individuals impacted by sexual violence and efforts to prevent all aspects of this violent crime. A recent study found that nearly one in five Maine residents reports that they have been the victim of rape or attempted rape during their lifetime; roughly 14,000 Maine residents may be the victim of rape or unwanted sexual activity during any 12 month period.

Rape Response Services continues to provide free and confidential services for individuals in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, including crisis intervention, accompaniment to medical and legal appointments, support groups, professional trainings, and community and school-based education.

Proud gold sponsors of the event include Bangor Hydro, Hannaford and Juniper Ridge Landfill.

Tickets are available at the door or may be purchased in advance at Rape Response Services: 262 Harlow Street, Bangor, ME, (207) 973-3595.
