Penobscot Theatre’s summer camp is one of the longest running performing arts camps in the region. Now, after three intense weeks of acting, singing, and dancing, PTC’s Dramatic Academy SUMMER session 2 proudly presents an entire weekend of exciting productions!
Students from ages 8 to 22 will perform a variety of short plays and musicals over the course of three days, Thursday, August 9, Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11.
Performing WINGS, an original adaptation of the story of Icarus, the Youth Troupe will take the stage at 1 p.m. Take flight with this new telling of an ancient tale!
At 2 p.m. The Youth Musical Theater performers will present their production of SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK, LIVE! Including all of your favorite songs from the popular Saturday morning cartoon series, this show is sure to excite both young and old alike!
At 7 p.m. The Young Adults perform the edgy new musical Spring Awakening based on the original play by Frank Wedekind. A piercing look at the plight of our youth, Spring Awakening does explore mature themes and language. Unflinching and acute in its exploration of issues such as teenage pregnancy and suicide, this new work features a brilliant score by Duncan Sheik and quickly became a musical phenomenon on Broadway. Please note: this show is not appropriate for audience members younger than 14; those under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Call the Box Office at 942-3333 for reservations or visit www.penobscottheatre.org for more information.
