ROCKLAND, Maine — Rupert Pilkington will speak about polar bears at 6:30 p.m.  Wednesday, March 5, at Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 9 Water St..

This lecture will discuss the life-cycle and biology of the polar bear in the context of its vast global range and its highly specialized adaptation to a brutal and yet fragile environment. It will also cover some of the key conservation issues facing polar bear populations, and will seek to dispel the myths and misunderstanding that are a result of continued spurious media coverage.

There is no cost to attend. This lecture is sponsored by the Friend’s of Maine’s Seabird Islands.

The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center is located  in the old Captain Snow house, the large white building just behind Triangle Park where Water Street and Route 73 meet.
