Paddle with Dick Andren, Biologist, to learn about the adaptation strategies used by wetland plants found at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge. Bring a hand lens or magnifying glass. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are available or bring your own canoe. Call to register by Saturday August 4. Suggested donations are $4 for adults, school-aged children are free.
Hirundo Wildlife Refuge is located on Hudson Rd (Rte. 43) Alton/Old Town.
Directions from the South
Take the I-95 N and then the ME-43 exit 197 to Old Town/Hudson. Turn left onto Rt. 43 (Hudson Rd). Go west 5.5 miles, past Gate 1 (large red sign on your right (north side of Rt. 43), and take the last driveway on the right, before the bridge. Meet in the parking lot at Gate 3 (35 Hudson Rd, Alton).
