AUGUST 24, 2013 – Paws for a Cause is a 5k and one-mile walk/parade that raises money to support the animals of the Coastal Humane Society.
Dogs are invited to attend and walk or run, if they are physically able to do so. The 5k, at Memorial Park in Freeport (just down the street from L.L. Bean) kicks off at 8 am. For those looking for a more relaxed strut with their mutt, join CHS for a one-mile walk and parade down Main Street in Freeport at 10 am, starting at Discovery Park at L.L. Bean.
Following the 5k and walk are canine contests for Best Kisser, Best Dressed, Best Barker, Best Tail-Wagger, and Best Pet/Owner Look Alike, followed by a host of doggy demonstrations, prizes, raffles, face-painting, and a whole lot more in L.L. Bean’s Dog Days of August Festival. The Silver Dog Bowl is awarded to the Walk team with the most team spirit.
