BANGOR, Maine — “One Blue Tarp” will be performed 7 p.m. Jan. 30 and Feb. 5, 6, 12, 13; 8 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, 8, 14, 15; 5 p.m. Feb. 1; and 3 p.m. Feb. 2, 9, 16, at Penobscot Theatre Company, 131 Main St. Call 947-6618 or visit for information.

The ubiquitous blue tarp provides the backdrop for this comic play about a Maine native defending his right to do as he’s always done and a woman “from away” who wants to change things and knows just how to do it. This light-hearted examination of home, place, progress, and the way like “should” be was first written and developed for PTC’s Northern Writes New Play Festival; named Best Play for the State of Maine in the 2013 Clauder New England Playwright Competition.
