ORONO, Maine — Orono High School art students will paint the town, literally, 9 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in what has become a popular annual community service project, organizers said.  The students will use their creative talents and their paints to brighten the winter windows of businesses throughout downtown Orono.  They will apply design skills and painting techniques they learned in AP art, commercial art and fundamentals of art II classes, while demonstrating their commitment to service as members of the OHS chapter of the National Art Honor Society.

The finished displays will be highlighted at Orono’s Downtown Winter Festival on Sunday, Dec. 2, and may be enjoyed throughout the holiday season at participating Verve, Pat’s Pizza, Ampersand, Park’s Hardware. Fringe, SBK Consulting, Curtis Law Firm, Rose Bike, Breakfast Bakery and Harvest Moon.

Funding for the downtown art project’s materials and supplies were provided in part by the Orono Village Association.
