New Hope Hospice will be holding a fall volunteer training for direct patient care volunteers beginning Thursday, October 10th and on consecutive Thursdays through October 31st. This 24 hour training session is designed to sensitize volunteers to the unique physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families coping with the impact of a life threatening illness. Volunteers work closely with a team of dedicated clinicians to provide companionship, respite support, practical assistance and bereavement support. Volunteers need to have excellent listening skills and must be compassionate, non judgmental, flexible and be comfortable working as part of a team. A screening interview and application process are required prior to the start of the training. There is no fee to attend.
