Advent Organ Recital. We will present Julia Morris-Myers, organ, and David Woolsey, oboe, in a program of music for Advent and Christmas on Friday, December 14 at 12:15 pm. The recital will include music by Bach, Telemann, Alec Rowley, Richard Hahn and others. This noon recital in December has become an annual tradition in Bar Harbor and is intended to be a time of respite from the hectic pace of the holiday season. Donations will be accepted towards the church’s outreach ministry, which provides necessities for those in need on MDI.

The St. Saviour’s Festival Singers of Bar Harbor, under the direction of Julia Morris-Myers, will present a Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 16 at 4:00 pm. This ancient season of hope and expectation will be explored thru readings and music. The service at St. Saviour’s Church, will feature anthems by the modern British and American composers Andrew Carter, Malcolm Archer, Daniel Gawthrop and Robert Powell. Peter Warlock’s Adam Lay Ybounden will be sung by Jay Emlen and there will be opportunities for the congregation to join in singing carols. Diana Brookes Brown will offer a flute prelude and descants on the carols. There is no admission charge to this program, but any donations received will go to the Bar Harbor Food Pantry.
