Museum offers sock-making workshop as part of exhibit

SEARSPORT, Maine —  As part of their winter exhibit “Underfoot: Footwear, Hooked Rugs, In the Cellar and Below Decks,” Penobscot Marine Museum is hosting a sock-making workshop with master knitter Lisa-Marie Haugmoen 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 14.

 Lisa-Marie Haugmoen is an expert knitter and is  working on designs for a new book by the British wool company Real Shetland Wool/Jamieson & Smith.  She knits garments for “Vogue Knitting” and for knitwear designers and has been knitting since the age of 4.

This is the first in a series of winter events for the exhibit “Underfoot.” All events take place in Penobscot Marine Museum’s Main Street Gallery, 40 East Main St., Searsport. Events free with $5 Gallery admission. Gallery admission is free for museum members and Searsport residents.
