Monson to hold Kris Kringle’s Market

MONSON, Maine — Monson’s annual Kris Kringle’s Market will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m.  Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Monson gymnasium.

The market will feature folkart, fabric items, tole painting, jewelry, homemade food, Finnish coffee bread, chocolates, wreaths and more. The market committee will serve lunch at 11 a.m. which includes squash or chicken soup and a variety of sandwiches.

Cookie decorating for children will take place 12:30-1 p.m.

Santa Claus will arrive at 1 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Monson General Store Gang. 

Entries for the annual Gingerbread House contest must be at the gym by 10 a.m. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three creative and well-crafted entries. A holiday village will be created with the entries. The suggested theme of the competition is “Christmas in Monson.”

The Kris Kringle Committee will sell 50/50 raffle tickets.  Door prizes will be awarded hourly.

In conjunction with the Kris Kringle’s Market, The Monson Public Library will sponsor a book fair at the Community Center. Storytelling will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for local children in need.
