On Saturday, March 9th, Unity College and the Maine international Film Festival will present a MIFF in the Morning screening of HELLO I MUST BE GOING at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts. The screening starts at 2:00PM and is free.

Hello I Must Be Going, the opening night film of Sundance 2011, stars Melanie Lynskey (Heavenly Creatures, Up in the Air, Two and a Half Men). Mostly a supporting actress, Lynskey has a rare lead role for which she was nominated for a Breakthrough Gotham Award. Her Amy is a demoralized recent divorcée who is a refugee in the suburban home of her parents (Blythe Danner and John Rubinstein). Thirty-something Amy stumbles into an affair with a 19-year-old family friend (Girls’ Christopher Abbott) that helps her begin to discover her independence and a sense of purpose that has been missing for years. Juxtaposing Danner’s subtly riveting performance as a frustrated empty nester with Lynskey’s endearing and nuanced depiction of a woman negotiating the comic and tragic possibilities of an existential crossroads, Hello I Must Be Going is an unconventional story of love and redemption—infused with sex, humor, and emotional honesty—giving Amy everything she will need to get on with her life.

“Lynskey inhabits the role so completely, brings such exquisite naturalness to her performance, that she becomes someone we root for unreservedly.”—Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

“Both funnier and deeper than you might expect at the outset.”—Christy Lemire, Associated Press

“… not just one of the finest indie releases of the year, but one of the sharpest and most moving and engaging movies of the year, period.”—Glenn Kenny, MSN Movies
