The Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine will hold a special Maundy Thursday Service on March 28 at the Maine Street church. This worship service is perhaps one of the most spiritual and emotional services in our Christian Tradition. This is a night where we gather at the table of the Last Supper, and share the sacrament of Communion on the anniversary of the very night in which Jesus gathered in the Upper Room with his disciples. As darkness gathers, we then move to a Service of Tenebrae, or shadows, in which we tell the story of the betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion of our Lord. We finish in darkness, with the light of Christ extinguished, and leave the service in silence, to contemplate the Passion and to wait for the coming glory of Easter. Join us at 7:00 pm for this special service.
