Liddy Hubbell will be the next Featured Artist at the Henry D. Moore Library in Steuben. Her show featuring oil paintings on linen will run from October 29th through November 29th during library hours. She uses the Maine landscape to express a hopeful, elevated vision through a colorist style. Her work includes both strong, deep colors and transparent hues and washes.
Rooted in her training in art and architecture at MIT, Liddy has a continued interest in the patterns of formal association and psychological exchange made between landscape, inhabitant, and viewer. She’s drawn toward dynamic transformations that build spatially from outcrops of anchoring buildings, the enigmatic intimacy of woods, and the exhilaration of arching sky.
Liddy says “My interiors express the intimacy, security and love of home through expansive line work which stretches the understanding of common place objects and spaces.” A portion of any sale of her work displayed during this show will be donated to the library.
