ORLAND, Maine — Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust will host the Maine qualifier for the 2013 Dion National Snowshoe Championships, at noon Sunday, Jan. 20. Registration for the 4.9-mile run and walk on snowshoes will take place 10-11:30 a.m. at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, Hatchery Road off Route 1 in East Orland. The course will traverse snow-covered dirt roads and single track trail with plenty of up and down running through the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands. If snow melts, bring winter running shoes. Runners, non-competitive trekkers and three-person teams are invited to participate.
Entry fee is $10 in advance by Thursday, Jan. 17, or $15 on race day. Proceeds will benefit the trust.
