Yogi P and the Funky Shanti, Burlington, Vermont’s premiere Kirtan band, returns to Maine to offer a series of Kirtan practices that are refreshingly earthy, deeply meditative, and delightfully uplifting–a campfire sing-along in Sanskrit.
Yogi Patrick McAndrew, chant leader, guitar, and harmonium, is a Kripalu-certified yoga instructor, lifelong musician, and longtime meditator in the lineage of Nityananda (“forever in bliss”), who loves to build community and celebration through music. His sparkling guitar riffs, warm presence, and lighthearted devotion guide the Kirtan ship.
Heidi Champney, violin and vocals, is the anchor, leading the response choir. Her powerful vocals, rooted spirit, and inspired encouragement remind all that your singing voice is a birthright.
Suggested donation of $10-15. For more information, contact Eileen at Healing & Expressive Arts Retreats of Maine: (207) 374-2412, 441-2785, at firstname.lastname@example.org or on FaceBook. Their “Ganesha Kirtan” cd’s will be for sale.
