Castine Kayak Adventures and Hirundo Wildlife Refuge collaborate to offer two Kayak Clinics at the Refuge.

In this first workshop Karen Francoeur will cover the basics of kayak technique from getting into and out of your craft gracefully, choosing the right kayak, paddle and essential gear for the location you plan to paddle, stroke techniques for paddling with finesse and ease. The second clinic, on July 27, focuses on rescue techniques and safety equipment.

Fee: $55 per clinic (20% of the proceeds to support programming at Hirundo). Sign up for both clinics $95 (save $15). BYOK or Kayak Rentals available $10. Registration and cancellation requested by June 20; call 944-9259. Meet in the parking lot at Gate 3.

Directions: From the South – Take the I-95 N to ME-43 exit 197 to Old Town/Hudson. Turn left onto Rt. 43 (Hudson Rd). Go west 4.9 mi and take Gate 3 off Rt. 43 (right side, just before the bridge).
