Learn how to make jewelry with metal clay.

An Introduction to Precious Metal Clay class will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Beaded Moose, 1460 Outer Hammond St., Bangor, ME.

Metal clay is a clay-like compound of powdered silver in an organic binder. It has the feel of modeling clay. While wet it can be formed into pendants, earrings and other types of jewelry using simple tools, air-dried, then fired at a high temperature in a small kiln. The binder burns away and the metal particles fuse and become solid silver. Once fired metal clay can be polished and finished like any silver jewelry. It is easy and fun to work with.

Certified PMC Instructor and local artist Janelle Delicata will teach the class. Delicata shows mixed media fine art and metal clay jewelry at many galleries in Maine. Examples of her work can be seen at The Beaded Moose or on her website

This is a beginning level class—no experience is needed! Students will take home at least one finished piece of silver jewelry. A basic tool kit and packet of PMC 3 are included in the class fee of $105. Class size is limited to 6 students. Pre-registration is strongly suggested.

For more information or to register for this class call The Beaded Moose at 207-992-2099.
