Mycologist and professor emeritus of biology at Utica College, Alan Bessette will provide a broad overview of how our daily lives are affected by fungi. Bessette will explain some of the varied ways we utilize fungi and how fungi improve or adversely affect our lives and the environment. Topics include, but are not limited to, the role of fungi in food and beverage production, dyeing, hallucinogens, and myths as well as in human, plant and animal diseases.
