The Telling Room will host an event with Lois Lowry, award-winning author of over forty young-adult books, in USM’s Abromson Center on September 25 at 7pm. The event is titled “Homecoming” in honor of Lowry’s recent return to Portland, after having lived here in the 1970s when raising her children and attending USM. Lowry will discuss her return to Portland, story craft, read from her work, and answer questions from the audience. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at loislowry.brownpapertickets.com beginning Tuesday, September 10th at 1pm.

Lowry received Newbery Medals for two of her novels, Number the Stars and The Giver, and her first novel, A Summer to Die, was awarded the International Reading Association’s Children’s Book Award. She has countless additional honors, among them the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, the Margaret A. Edwards Award, the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award, the California Young Reader’s Medal.
