A Hollow Forms in Metal Clay class will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 10 a. m. to 4 p.m. at The Beaded Moose, 1460 Outer Hammond St., Bangor, ME.

This is an intermediate level class. Some experience working with metal clay is needed! We will explore six different types of hollow form beads. Students can expect to take home at least one finished bead. Cost of the class is $135 and includes a packet of PMC+. Please bring your basic tool kit and anything you would like to use for texturing your beads.

Metal clay is a clay-like compound of powdered silver in an organic binder. It has the feel of modeling clay. While wet it can be formed into pendants, earrings, beads and other types of jewelry using simple tools. It is then air dried, then fired at a high temperature in a small kiln. The binder burns away and the metal particles sinter and become solid silver. Once fired metal clay can be polished and finished like any silver jewelry. It is easy and fun to work with!

Certified PMC Instructor and local artist Janelle Delicata will teach the class. Delicata shows mixed media fine art and metal clay jewelry at many galleries in Maine. She participates in fine craft shows locally. Examples of her work can be seen at The Beaded Moose or on her website

Class size is limited to six students and pre-registration is required. For more information or to register for this class call The Beaded Moose at 207-992-2099 or Janelle Delicata at 207-944-8822. There is a minimum number of 2 students required to run the class.
