The Department of Agriculture Conservation and Forestry, under the Bureau of Park and Public Lands, will be hosting a Fall Foliage Hike, on Saturday September 28th, from 9am to noon, at Haystack Mountain in Castle Hill, ME. This short but rugged 1/3 mile climb will put the fall foliage viewing in to full gear for the season. Participants will be rewarded with an almost 360′ spectacular view of Aroostook County’s changing foliage. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear (no sandals or flip flops) and be prepared to hike up steep, rugged trails (know your limitations). Bring water, snacks, binoculars and cameras. During the hike staff will talk about the changing leaf color, point out interesting landmarks, and talk about the Mountain (one of the Gems of Aroostook County). Dogs are welcomed but must be on a leash at all times. For more info on this hike please call 207-768-8341.Contact the Bureau’s website for more info on other Bureau’s hikes offered this fall season. www.parksandlands.com
