gWatson Gallery at 68 Main Street, in Stonington, on Deer Isle, is featuring Alan Rushing’s new paintings of Maine.
The show opens June 17 and runs through July 7. There will be an Artist Reception, Friday, July 6, from 5 – 7PM, in conjunction with Stonington’s First Night Art Walk.
Rushing has been featured in more than 50 solo and group shows all over the US, including Seattle and Boston. He holds an MFA in painting from the University of New Hampshire and has been the recipient of several fellowships, most recently a teaching fellowship in Ascoli Piceno, Italy.
Alan’s dynamic series of over more than 20 plein air paintings, range in size from 12×15 inches to 4×4 feet, and are a testament to his ability as a painter, capturing the mood and moment of the coastal life he clearly knows and loves.
