BAR HARBOR — Local Solutions, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating family-style housing for adults with developmental disabilities, is set to meet at the Jesup Memorial Library, 34 Mount Desert St., on Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. A light dinner will be provided.

The State of Maine has long waiting lists. “The reality is that most people applying for residential and community-based services will never receive them,” says Lee Haynes, an organizer of the group. “This situation impacts an entire community and the need for care is steadily increasing…We are working to create supported housing, jobs and a rich social life for those with cognitive disabilities.”

For more information call 288-4365 and ask for Lee or Dee, or e-mail olh@midmaine.com.
