Join Scott Bennett for a moonlight walk on the barrens of Bucksport’s abandoned Upper Long Pond Road. This 2.5-mile hike ascends moderately to take in views of the surrounding area, twinkling city lights and the setting sun, with the moon high above. We’ll also look for remains of the long-abandoned Santiago settlement. Meet at the Wildlands’ North Gate on Bald Mountain Road (0.2 mi. fromWinkumpaugh Corners) at 6:30 pm, to carpool a few miles to the trailhead. Dress in warm layers and bring flashlight.
