BELFAST, Maine — The November meeting of The Belfast Garden Club will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church Parish House, 95 Court St. It will feature a presentation and discussion, “Wet and Dry Shade Gardens,” with Rick Sawyer of Fernwood Nursery in Montville at 2 p.m.
The program is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
Rick Sawyer has worked in the nursery business for more than 35 years. In 1991, he founded Fernwood Nursery, now on Route 3, which specializes in shade and woodland plants, many of which are native to this area or do particularly well in our climate. He will share his extensive expertise in choosing and growing plants for shady gardens.
This month’s short horticulture topic will be “Water Availability in Maine, New Mexico and In-between, and What’s Going On” given by Ann Mullen.
The club welcomes new members and volunteers year round.
