Practice field directly behind the Bucksport Regional Health Center

or The G. Herbert Jewett School Gymnasium

A new contest in the Bucksport area is challenging businesses, organizations, and families to turn our town into the snow city during February school vacation. The first ever Frost Fest Snow Sculpture Contest will start at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the practice field directly behind Bucksport Regional Health Center. A prize will be awarded to the best entry. We hope the introduction of the Snow Sculpture Contest this year will both provide a new opportunity for area residents to enjoy the snow and serve as a stepping-off point for more fun in the future.

Would you like to enter a team? $3.00 per person or $10.00 for a team of four people. You may pre-register with the Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce or register the day of the event. To encourage creativity, organizers have not set a specific theme and are not issuing overly detailed guidelines for the first ever contest. Snowmen are encouraged as well as more advanced and artistic sculptures made entirely of snow!

No snow? No worries. The alternative is weird, wacky, and wild races. How fast can you melt a block of ice? How many paper snowflakes can you make in 1 minute and 42 seconds? Ice cube on a spoon race, and a day at the beach race are all on the agenda. The same team registration entries apply. Depending on the weather, we may be playing these games indoors; but if it is not raining or below zero, outdoor races it is! If indoors, races will be at the G Herbert Jewett Gymnasium, if outdoors, races will be at the practice field directly behind the Bucksport Regional Health Center.

Even If you can’t participate in any of these events, please come out and enjoy watching either the Snow Sculpture Contest or the Wacky Races. Having an audience to encourage the participants is always fun!
