BAR HARBOR, Maine – A free talk, “Painting Bridges: Uniting Community with Art,” will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at at the Mount Desert Island YMCA.
Artist Howie Moterko will show images of the illuminated bridges of Acadia. He will share stories of how a team of people wield flashlights to illuminate the bridges while a photo is taken. He and 74 volunteers have completed 10 bridge and one gatehouse light paintings. His goal is to complete all 16 bridges for a May art exhibit at the Northeast Harbor Library, with proceeds to benefit Friends of Acadia.
The Walks and Talks program is free and open to all. After the talk, participants may use the Y facility.
