Free documentary photography workshop offered during International Festival in Calais this weekend

The International Homecoming Festival for border cities, Calais, Maine, and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, has been selected as one of the Down East festivals to be documented photographically thanks to a project made possible through the Artists in Maine Communities grant program administered by the Maine Arts Commission and matched funds from the Tides Institute and Museum of Art, with support from the Calais Downtown Revitalization Coalition (CDRC).

Two workshops are being provided under the direction of professional photographer and artist, Leslie Bowman. On Friday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. To noon, participants will meet at the Wabanaki Culture Center, to learn some basic tricks of the trade, then go out and photograph the festivities. On Sunday, Aug. 12, from 12 p.m. To 2 p.m., the group will meet back at Wabanaki Culture Center to edit, crop and choose the top 5 images to be enlarged for exhibit. Register for free by calling 853-4047.
