ELLSWORTH, Maine — Have you been putting off paying off your overdue books and media fines? If so, Ellsworth Public Library has a way to clear that debt and help those in your community who need it the most.
Library patrons can get their overdue fines forgiven by donating non-perishable food items through the Food for Fines program, through the month of December.
The donations go to the Loaves & Fishes food pantry of Ellsworth, which aids residents of Ellsworth and towns in the surrounding area. Last year, the library collected about 400 pounds of food for those in need in Hancock County through their Food for Fines program.
Monetary donations will also be accepted through the Food for Fines program. Donations from those who don’t owe fines are also welcome.
