First Friday Art Walk is Aug. 2 in Rockland

ROCKLAND, Maine — Arts in Rockland hosts First Friday Artwalk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug.2. Join the 23 Galleries in downtown Rockland for August’s Art Walk.
Galleries will be open from Water Street to Summer Street and the side streets around the museum, Winter, Elm and Oak streets.
The Farnsworth Museum will be open and free from 5 to 8 p.m. too.
The Caldbeck Gallery, 12 Elm St., presents “Black, White and Blue,” an exhibit of photographic work by artist John Goodman of Friendship and Boston.
“Selected Paintings” is on view upstairs, featuring the work of gallery artists, Elizabeth Awalt, Lois Dodd, Jeff Epstein, Fred Kellogg, Jenifer Mumford, Antonia Munroe, Jan Rosenbaum, Barbara Sullivan, John Woolsey, and Susan Williams. The gallery will be open 5-8 p.m. on Friday, with regular hours of 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

 Yvette Torres Fine Art will exhibit the work of Maine artist, Charles DuBack titled, “Then & Now II,” showing selections of his work from the early years in Maine and recent paintings. The exhibit opens Aug. 2 and runs through Sept. 2. There will be an artist’s reception 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.
DuBack is a well-known American painter, his work has been featured in important shows at the Museum of Modern Art, NYC, the Brooklyn Museum and the Whitney Annual Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting among others. Join Archipelago Fine Arts gallery for the premier exhibition of Peter Ralston’s “Master Prints.” Both new and classic images will be highlighted in this show by iconic photographer Peter Ralston of Rockport. Ralston’s images bring the viewer to special spots along Maine’s coast during times of day when the light is sublime. The show will be on exhibit at Archipelago, the Island Institute store and Gallery, 386 Main St., Rockland through Sept. 30. The Landing Gallery has an opening reception 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 2, for “Suggestion: Landscape,” a solo exhibit by Irma Cerese showing 55 new paintings. Color relationships and the effect they create are the underlying foundation of Cerese’s work. Her paintings explore the use of color as a means to develop a visual dialogue with our emotional feelings. The exhibit continues through Sept. 22.
