DEXTER, Maine — The Abbott Memorial Library will be decorated for the holiday season and for the fifth annual Fruitcake Fanciers Bake-Off on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Contestants should register in advance by calling the library at 207-924-7292. Copies of contest rules are available at the library. Fruitcakes should be delivered to the library before 1:30 p.m. Judging will commence at 2 p.m.
First place, $25, second place, $15 and third place, $10. If the winning recipe comes out of a cookbook owned by the library, the prize money will be doubled.
The public is invited to attend and sample some of the cakes baked by local residents.
