On Saturday April 20, Campbell’s ATA Black Belt Academy, 33 School St., Bangor, is hosting an all-day “Family Safety Fair”. This is a free event and is open to the public. It will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. We are pleased to announce that participating in our Safety Fair will be:
- Greg Mitchell, a Career Police Officer, Tactical Team member and a Marine Veteran. He will be doing an “Anti-Abduction Concepts” presentation.
- Bill Mitchell, a 28 year Law Enforcement veteran, and employed by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit. His presentation will be “Cyber Safety”.
- Ron Campbell, 3rd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and school owner, will provide an introduction to the “Olweus Anti-Bulling Program”, of which he is a certified instructor.
- Shelli Tourtillotte, former full time firefighter and EMT in Hampden, former Fire Safety Officer with Bangor Fire Department and now of the Orrington Fire Department, will have a “Fire Safety” presentation.
Autism Speaks will have a display and discuss how Martial Arts has proven to be helpful to those with autism.
The Freemasons will have their Child identification kits available, consisting of fingerprinting, DNA swab and data sheet. All information will be placed on a CD for the parents.
Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department will also be providing an Iris scan for all children over the age of 5. They will be on the premises from 9 am until 1 pm.
There may be additional presenters as well. There will be many giveaways and specials and door prizes throughout the day.
