This summer, one of the world’s top Elvis Entertainers, Robert Washington, will be bringing his incredible singing voice to Aroostook County for two shows. The “Elvis is in the County” show will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Caribou Performing Arts Center, and on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Houlton Community Arts Center. The show features two sets: the first focusing on Elvis’ younger days, and the second set conjuring up a typical Elvis Vegas lounge act.

Robert Washington was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and became a fan of Elvis Presley at an early age. After Elvis’ death on Robert’s birthday in 1977, Robert began singing Elvis songs for family and friends. In 1983, he entertained on stage for the first time, which marked the beginning of his career.

Since then, Robert has performed all over the world, including the Original Elvis Tribute Tour in Europe earlier this year. In 2008 Robert made his first visit to Aroostook County, wowing a nearly full house at the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Robert was featured in the movie “Almost Elvis,” and won first place at the 2003 Images of Elvis competition in Memphis, among many other awards. He is a true Elvis fan and it shows in his performance.

Robert not only has the voice of Elvis but he has that special charisma that Elvis had. Longtime Elvis bodyguard Sam Thompson was quoted as saying “When I closed my eyes, I was amazed! Robert Washington sounded the closest to Elvis I have ever heard.”
