ELLSWORTH, Maine — You can make the season a little brighter for everyone who uses the Ellsworth Public Library by making a donation as part of the library’s annual holiday Wish Stars program.

Ellsworth Public Library staff will be placing the names of items they want added to the library’s collection, such as books, magazine subscriptions, and DVDs, on paper stars. The title, cost, and the item’s intended age group is included on the stars, which can be found a bulletin board opposite the circulation desk.

Members of the public can pick a star and give the library a monetary donation with which to purchase the item or items listed. Cash, checks, and credit or debit cards are accepted.

Items can also be purchased in the name of a friend or loved one, whose name can be inscribed upon the bookplate, a decorative label passed into a book. It’s a great way to recognize someone who has everything, while giving a gift to the library that benefits the entire community.

Wish Star donations will be accepted through Dec. 31.
