ELLSWORTH, Maine — Get in the spirit of the season with a very special holiday concert and sing along by the Acadia Handbell Choir at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Ellsworth Public Library. The choir will chime in the annual holiday season at the library.

Handbell choirs are carefully choreographed so that the entire group acts as a single instrument. They are often found in churches and college settings. The Acadia Handbell Choir, which formed in the 1970s at the Hancock Union Church, performs a mix of religious  and secular music, according to a 2012 article in Profiles Maine Magazine.

Anyone can check out the bells and give them a ring after the performance. The event is free and open to the public, so everyone can enjoy the decorative and festive atmosphere.
