Dog first aid class to be held in Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The American Red Cross and the Central Aroostook Kennel Club will host a dog first aid class 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center.  Registration will begin at 8:3a.m.  The cost is $20.

Penny Curran, a Red Cross certified instructor will be the speaker. She will discuss understanding basic pet owner responsibilities, administering medicine, managing breathing and cardiac emergencies, managing urgent care situations, treating wounds and electrical shock, caring for eye, foot, or ear injuries, and preparing for disasters.

The American Red Cross will have a book and first aid kits available for an additional charge.
