The Henry D. Moore Library in Steuben will be having a summer reading program again this year. We are expanding the program to include adults and well as children and will have a friendly competition between the two groups to see who can read the most hours. Registration starts at 9am on Saturday, June 15th and we will have free book bags for the first 50 children and 25 adults that register and free Seadogs tickets for the first 50 children. You can also register during library hours at any time after that date. Once you register and get your book log, all you have to do is read books and keep track of your time. We encourage you to read library books but it’s not required for all of your reading. Prizes will be awarded to the top readers in a couple of age groups. The reading program is open to children and adults from Steuben and any of the surrounding towns.

On June 27th, the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will be putting on a show titled “Everybody Loves Pirates.” On August 27th, Tony Sohns (The Rock and Art Shop) will be here for a program and then Bess the Book Bus will be back on August 30th to pass out free books to children and we’ll finish off the program that day with an ice cream party. Stay tuned for more information about these events which are free and open to the public. Our website is and our facebook page is You can also email or call 546-7301.
