Archaeologist and retired professor Harold Borns will discuss the evidence (or lack thereof) that ancient Viking mariners landed and settled in what is now called Downeast Maine. The talk will review the Viking age in general and will cover the spread of Norsemen across the Atlantic Ocean, archaeological evidence gathered at a Norse site in Newfoundland, and the connection between Vikings and Downeast Maine folklore.
