Dancing with Local Stars this Friday night

On Friday, April 26, eight mid-coast celebrities will take the stage of the Strom Auditorium to show off their best dance moves in support of The Community Schools at Opportunity Farm and Camden. The 5th annual Dancing with Local Stars features eight local stars who will Swing, Tango, Samba, Salsa, Foxtrot, Hustle and Hip Hop their way into the hearts of audience members, all while supporting the students of The Community Schools.

This year’s star lineup includes Rockland City Mayor Will Clayton, Rockland Fire Chief Charlie Jordan, PenBay Pilot Directing Editor Lynda Clancy, Camden Public Library Children’s Librarian Amy Hand, Camden Hills Regional High School Assistant Principal Piet Lammert, Midcoast Music Together Director Jess Day, Taylor-Made Builders Senior Project Manager Norm Dalholt and Graphic Designer Anneli Skaar of Skaar Design.

Each of the stars will be paired with professional dance instructors from Swing and Sway Dancing and Kinetic Energy Alive. In addition to the stars and their instructors, Swing & Sway and Kinetic Energy Alive will showcase their own contemporary work and the students of The Community Schools will bring down the house with their hip new Hip Hop routine.

New this year, the show will also include a special group performance of eight local “All-Stars” from the first four years of Dancing with Local Stars. The 5th annual Dancing with Local Stars “All Stars” cast includes Karen Grove, Julia Libby, Nancy Schultz, Marianne Forti, Susan Thiem, Charlie Jordan, Brook Hartshorn and Jane Dagley.

Rounding out the show will be the always popular Zumba, tap, ballet, bellydance and contemporary performances of Korinn’s Dance, Rockport Dance Conservatory, Atlantic Ballet Company, Triple Threat Theater and Nathifa Shakti of Bellyton.

This year’s stars will be treated to hair and make-up by Virtuoso Salon and Beauty Mark Spa. Transportation is by Country Coach Charters and the after-party will be at Graffam Brothers Harborside Restaurant in downtown Camden.
