Dance teams to present ‘Competition Showcase’ March 14

HERMON, Maine — The Morgan Hill Dance Team and Dance Excellence Team from Morita’s School of Dance in Hermon will present their “Competition Showcase” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Hermon High School.

The teams are directed by Morita Tapley and Assistant Directors Denise Knowles and Melody Murphy.  Dancers ages 7-17 years will entertain the audience with Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Variety numbers being performed at competition in Scarborough and Los Angeles, Calif.

Nine dancers will represent Maine at Dance Excellence in California, April 11-19. Morita’s School of Dance will be the only studio from Maine attending this International Event.  The dancers will have 3 days of classes with world famous instructors. They will have workshops with the Young Americans, who will be coming to Maine in October  2014 to area high schools hosting the YA’s for their Musical Outreach Programs for grades 3-12th.

The Morgan Hill Dancers will perform in Disneyland and also in the Performance Boards held at the Long Beach Convention Center. The performance March 14 is open to the public at Hermon High School.  Donations will be accepted at the door and refreshments will be for sale.
