Cut Christmas trees, gather greens in the Wildlands

ORLAND, Maine — Get your Christmas tree the old-fashioned way noon-3 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 2 and 9, in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands. Enjoy a hayride, bonfire, hot cocoa and goodies, and cut your own wild, open-grown balsam fir.

Cutting help and handsaws will be available. Chainsaws may not be used.

The cost is $25, additional trees $10 each. Proceeds will benefit the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust.

Drive to the Wildlands from North Gate on Bald Mountain Road in North Orland, .2 miles west of the Winkumpaugh Road intersection, or South Gate on Route 1, just south of the Route 176 junction in East Orland. Snow conditions on the roads may impact location and gate opening.
