As part of its nationwide 2013 tour, Bess the Book Bus will stop at Maine-based Daigle Oil’s Doc’s Place location in Houlton. Bess the Book Bus is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization committed to extending literacy across the country. Run by Jennifer Frances of Tampa, Florida, the organization visits local communities across the country in a specially designed “book bus,” coordinating reading events and providing children with a free, new book for them to keep. The CITGO Fueling Good partnership has allowed Bess the Book Bus to double her impact in the last five years.

On September 8th from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. at the Daigle Oil CITGO station in Houlton, Bess the Book Bus founder, Jennifer Frances and Daigle Oil Brand Manager, Sonya Dechene LeBoeuf, will distribute brand new books, nylon backpacks, coloring books and crayons donated by CITGO to children from the local community. Additionally, Daigle Oil will set up a picnic area and provide fruit platters for the children in attendance. Families are invited to visit the station and interact with Bess the Book bus and take part in the day’s events.
