Cut a wild, open-grown balsam fir for $25; additional trees, $10 each. Cutting help and handsaws will be available. Chainsaws cannot be used. Proceeds will benefit Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust.

Drive in to the Wildlands from North Gate on Bald Mountain Road in North Orland, Maine, 0.2 mi west of the Winkumpaugh Road intersection, or South Gate on Route 1, just south of the Route 176 junction in East Orland, Maine. Snow conditions on the roads may impact location and gate opening. Check for changes, cancellations or updates at www.greatpondtrust.org.
