On Friday, September 21, at 7:00pm, the Cobscook Community Learning Center and Cobscook Bay Music will host Brad Sawyer at the monthly Third Friday Coffeehouse. Brad has been playing guitar for 30 years. He told his father he wanted to be a musician when he grew up. His dad said “you can’t have it both ways, son,” so he splits his time between carpentry and music. Although he plays mostly rock and dance with his band, he’ll be doing some ballads and other styles at the Coffeehouse. He’s an intense player with a great voice and he’s known for breaking strings. Brad loves to see people enjoying music and forgetting their troubles for a bit.
Admission for this event is by donation, which goes to the featured musician. True to form, the Coffeehouse will offer an open-mic segment for audience participants wishing to take the stage (which does include a piano). And, in keeping with coffeehouse tradition, there will be coffee, tea and homemade treats for sale. School and civic groups interested in providing snacks and beverages as a fundraiser for their group are invited to call the CCLC to participate. The Cobscook Community Learning Center is an alcohol-free campus and located at 10 Commissary Point Road in Trescott, 1.8 miles from the Whiting Store on Rt. 189.
