OLD TOWN — Hirundo Wildlife Refuge holds seasonal Blue Moon Paddle at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 6:45 pm p.m. Bring a snack, water and a flashlight.

Meet at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge, Gate 3 in the parking lot (35 Hudson Rd., Alton). Reservations and cancellations requested by Thursday, Aug. 22, call 207-944-9259. Suggested donations are $5 for adults, school-aged children are free.

Directions from the South

Take the I-95 N and then the ME-43 exit 197 to Old Town/Hudson. Turn left onto Rt. 43 (Hudson Rd). Go west 5.5 miles, past Gate 1 (large red sign) and take a right into the last driveway before the bridge.

I noticed that one of the announcement stated the incorrect Gate number. The danger of cut and paste! This has happened

to me before as well. Generally, the Sunday afternoon guided trips leave from Gate 3, unless we have an overwhelming number of people.

Land-based activities (Family Day for example) take place at Gate 1.
