The summer has surely begun in earnest with the return of the annual Big Yard and Bake Sale on Saturday, June 15th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fire Station on Ayers Junction Road (Rte. 214) in Charlotte, sponsored by the Charlotte Volunteer Fire and Rescue Auxiliary. This year’s sale promises to be full of great finds and bargains, with folks cleaning out houses and down-sizing their collections of things they no longer need. Among the many items will be books, records (LPs and 78s), VHS and audio tapes displayed on bookshelves and record bins, many of which will be for sale, too.
The bake sale will get the Charlotte cooks back into “summer mode” with a good supply of rolls, pies, cakes, cookies, whoopie pies, fudge and all sorts of other tasty treats. Lunches of hot dogs, sandwiches, and sweets will also be available throughout the sale.
Individuals may set up their own yard sale tables outside the building without charge, though a donation would be appreciated. To arrange for this, or for those who wish to make a donation of yard sale items, please either contact one of the officers or leave a message on the answering machine at the station (454-8406) to give your information &/or receive a call-back to plan a time for pickup or delivery.
Other fundraisers this year will be dinners to be held July 10th, August 7th, and September 14th at the fire and rescue station. Finally, the annual craft fair will be held, as usual, at the Charlotte School on Saturday, November 2nd.
